Today Mike Funk and I leave for Boma, South Sudan to see the recent progress of our outstanding team on the ground in Boma. Mike Funk, a member of Browncroft Community Church in Rochester, New York, is going to Africa for the first time and is excited to see the work. He has been praying for some time asking God how he might become more involved in SEA Partners. Our team leaves for Boma, South Sudan early next week and we look forward to seeing our friends. For me, this is going to be very exciting to see first hand our rebuilt school that was heavily damaged in 2013. God has been faithful to provide the resources and staff to accomplish this reconstruction. Thank you to all who have prayed and supported us throughout the years. Mike Funk and his family. Juba/Boma Trip Objectives Our first objective is to inspect the repairs on the Faith Learning Center classrooms. Extensive damage had been done to the SEA Partners’ compound and the school and now those repairs are almost completed. We hope to have a big celebration!
Our second objective is to establish some new contacts in Juba, the capital of South Sudan. I have been there a few times before, but we are finding a need to invest additional time in Juba to meet other leaders of non-government organizations who can advise us moving forward. We have several meetings scheduled and look forward to seeing the connections God has purposed for us to make.
Final Thoughts We are thankful for all your support as we are working to improve the physical and spiritual lives of the people in Boma. Please pray that God would lead and guide us in all our activities. If you would like to help us continue the work in Boma, please consider a gift that will change lives forever. May God bless you for your prayers and support of our brothers and sisters in Boma. Donnie Brake, Ed.D. President PS. I will be sending more updates and pictures from Boma. Remember to pray for Mike and I as we travel throughout South Sudan. |
