2019 Was a Special Year in Boma: Check it Out!

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think….”
Ephesians 3:20
Wow! Praise the Lord! This year in Boma has simply progressed beyond what I imagined would be possible. 2019 was a special year in Boma. Two years ago we began praying that God would provide one tractor so we could begin our Farming for Peace initiativeToday, by the grace of God and your kind gifts, we have 5 tractors in Boma and were recently given another 14 by the government in Juba. Thank you so much for all your prayers and support.
Thanks to Eric and Rebekah Schwanke, we were able to move 5 tractors to Boma and have prepared the other 14 to move as soon as the funding is raised to transport them.

Tractor Usages

These tractors have been vital and a huge blessing to the people of Boma and to our SEA Partners staff and visitors. Though not a comprehensive list, we have been able to utilize the tractors to: transport food throughout the Boma area, provide transport up and down the mountain, plow almost 100 acres of new farmland (Farming for Peace), construct the Upper Boma airstrip and help local NGOs move personnel from one place to another. As you can see, we have kept these tractors very busy.
When the rains came in May, the SEA Partners tractors were the onlyvehicles that were able to transport the food to the surrounding community! Moving food supplies for World Food Programme has blessed the community.

Financial Challenges

The challenge for us became funding all the requests that came in to use the tractors. We had no idea the number of opportunities a tractor in Boma would generate for its use and as a result we depleted our general fund buying fuel, maintaining and repairing the tractors for their use in all these different ways. We simply were not prepared for this expense.

After trying for 11 years, the tractors enabled us to complete the airstrip in Upper Boma. (Look for tomorrow’s email with these details!)

Why is Year-end Help Needed?

In order to finish 2019 in the black, we need your help to replenish our general fund and to get out of debt. Please consider a year-end gift to provide the funding we need to continue this work in Boma. Our goal is to raise $52,000 this year-end to replenish our general fund and to transport and begin using the remaining 14 tractors in Boma in our Farming for Peace initiative.
