My First Trip to Omiling, South Sudan

We began our project in Omiling, South Sudan, in October of 2021. From the beginning it was our stated goal to allow this project to grow organically with minimal outside influence. To our delight, the Lord has done just that! While in Juba last year the tribal chief invited me to visit Omiling, so on this most recent trip, my father, Dr. Donald Brake Sr., Eric Schwanke, Alier Pareng, Vincent Owino and I drove from Juba to Omiling to see what God has been doing over the last 3+ years.

What we found was nothing short of amazing! Due to some challenges with our vehicle, we arrived seven hours later than expected at 10:00 PM. In spite of our tardiness and the late hour, the entire village greeted us with singing and dancing. It was quite the reception!

The next day was Sunday so my Dad and Eric had the opportunity to share the gospel at the church service. Our first Omiling church gathering in October 2021 had just 7 people attend while on this Sunday morning there were around 200! Shortly after the church service Dr. Brake Sr. provided some pastoral training for 10 local pastors. It was an amazing day! Praise the Lord!

What a great blessing to learn from these 10 pastors that there is now a planted church in all six of the Ofrika Tribe villages. God is increasing His Church and we had the joy of seeing the fruit of our prayers.

Thank you so much for your support. I realize it is God who brings the increase but you planted the seeds through your prayers and generous donations. May God bless you for your kindness and generosity.

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor.

This is our team that traveled to Omiling South Sudan in March of 2025. It was a great trip and one we will all remember fondly.
