Celebrating Independence and Renewing Hope for South Sudan

Just five days ago, we celebrated the 249th Independence Day of the United States. Today, we join in honoring a significant milestone for another nation—South Sudan. On July 9, 2011, South Sudan gained independence from Sudan after more than 50 years of civil war. I still vividly remember celebrating that monumental day alongside South Sudanese friends in Dallas, Texas.

Over the past 14 years, South Sudan has faced the complex challenges of nation-building. While the unity of 64 tribes helped achieve independence, longstanding tribal divisions have since become a source of internal conflict, slowing the country’s journey toward stability and growth.

The early years of the United States were also marked by political unrest, economic instability, and internal conflict as our nation worked to establish a new kind of government in a world dominated by monarchies. It’s a powerful reminder that building a nation takes time—and God’s grace.

We remain hopeful. Our ministry continues to serve the people of South Sudan through programs focused on evangelism, education, and economic development. These efforts are bringing real change—equipping individuals and communities with the tools to build a better future.

Please continue to pray for South Sudan and the United States as we face global challenges together. And consider partnering with us financially as we bring hope, healing, and opportunity to those who need it most.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and ongoing support. You are a vital part of what God is doing in South Sudan!
